Another power outage in Fort St. John

first_imgUPDATE #6:  Power has been restored as of 4:40 p.m.UPDATE #5:  Hydro says power should be restored by 4:30 p.m.UPDATE #4: BC Hydro spokesperson Bob Gammer says that crews are expected to arrive at the Fort St. John substation at around 3:00 p.m. According to Gammer, the cause of the outage was related to BC Hydro’s transmission system, and that their transmission technicians needed to travel from their base in Dawson Creek. He added that those crews will be attempting to work on switching at the substation to get the power back on, but that he did not have an estimated time for the power to be restored. Hydro’s investigation into what caused the problem currently ongoing.- Advertisement -UPDATE #3: There are now a total of 16,166 customers without power. The outage extends north past Montney towards Buick. JOHN, B.C. – For the second time in less than a week, over 2,300 customers in Fort St. John are without power this afternoon.The outage happened at approximately 1:28 this afternoon, and stretches from west of 84th St, south of 117th Ave, north of 79th AVE, and East of Old Fort Rd.The cause of the outage is currently under investigation, but preliminary information from BC Hydro’s website says that the outage is due to a transmission circuit failure. Crews have been dispatched, but there’s no word yet on when power will be restored. The outage is in roughly the same area as another outage last Friday that was caused by a bird contacting wires.last_img
