Last night, Phish completed the third show of their semi-annual Independence Day Weekend run at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. The shows offered no shortage of highlights, including new songs, tour debuts, beloved covers, and deep jams on unexpected songs, but the undoubted centerpiece of the weekend was the monster 22+ minute “Chalk Dust Torture” from Friday evening’s performance, featuring tight, spacey improvisation and even some instrument rotating–with Trey hitting the marimba lumina and Mike taking a turn on the keys. The band has released official pro-shot video of the stellar jam for all of us to enjoy.Set aside 22 minutes, pull up a chair, plug in your headphones, turn up the volume, and give this a spin–you’ll be glad that you did:Phish’s 2016 Summer Tour continues this Wednesday with a relatively (compared to the rest of the tour) intimate show at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME.
One of the best parts of our job is hosting our smaller, community-style meetups. This week we were excited to host one of our most interesting and informative meetups of the season. We gathered Van Lifers and Van Builders from all over the front range to hold an intimate Van Life Panel at the picturesque Boulder Adventure Lodge just west of Boulder, Colorado. We brought together a group of five van builders and five van lifers to answer questions and talk about all things #vanlife. We shared tips from the road, helpful minimalist life hacks, tips on how to build a van, and much more! It was so interesting and informative that we wanted to share some audio highlights with you.Our expert van build panel:Jon with Native CampervansMatt with Titan VansDevon with TIMBR BasecampsDave with Vanlife CustomsIan from Wayfarer VansHere are some of the most interesting highlights from the panel:How to choose a van: Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/How-to-Chose_01.wav00:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Interesting follow up:Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/How-to-Chose_02.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume. What is a mistake that you have made during a build?Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Mistake_01.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Mistake_02.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Things we thought we interesting regarding insurance and the title of your van:Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Insurance_01.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Insurance_02.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume. After an hour or so and a few drinks, it was time for the van lifers to talk about what it’s like living in a van.“Life on the Road” panel:Kathleen from Van Life Diaries and Tiny House, Tiny FootprintRoxy from Live Outside and PlayBen from Live Outside and PlayLauren with Sacred Rides BoulderAmanda from The Van ProjectWhy do you #vanlife?Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/why-do-you-02.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Why-do-you-01.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Where do you go to the bathroom?Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Bathroom-2.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Bathroom-1.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume. How do you shower?Audio Playerhttps://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Shower-01.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume. We want to send a MASSIVE shout out to everyone who came and participated in our panel.
